Wahous Wilderness Lodge

Wildlife and Wilderness Adventures in BC

Immerse Yourself in Nature’s Backyard

Quait Bay is a remote, protected inlet located on the west coast of Vancouver Island within Clayoquot Sound (pronounced klak-wot), British Columbia, Canada. An untamed and wondrous place, Clayoquot Sound is a uniquely beautiful site, rich with abundant wildlife, where old growth forests flourish. Visitors to this living land most often find themselves deeply connected with this special place, and the way of life that stewards it.

Respect

nuučaańuł – “all along the mountains and sea.”

Wahous Wilderness Lodge is owned and operated by the ʕaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht) hawiih (Chiefs) through the Maaqtusiis Hahoulthee Stewardship Society.

The ʕaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht), together with the Hesquiaht and Tla-o-qui-aht, are three of the nuučaańuł (Nuu-chah-nulth) First Nations who have cared for this stretch of coast for thousands of years.

In January 2000, local First Nations communities, alongside federal and provincial governments, helped designate Clayoquot Sound as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Today, we honour this pristine habitat as one of the few remaining places on earth where visitors can experience the rare, living landscape that has sustained the nuučaańuł (Nuu-chah-nulth) people, wildlife, and ecosystems for millennia.
