Wahous Wilderness Lodge

Wildlife and Wilderness Adventures in BC

Your Journey Begins Here

Time at Wahous Wilderness Lodge moves with the rhythm of the land and sea. Here, living culture, stewardship and restoration shape each stay.

We invite you to settle into that rhythm.

Whether your stay is three, four or seven nights, time here offers space to explore forest and shoreline, gather over tide-to-table meals and experience moments of cultural connection that reflect the traditions and stewardship of the ʕaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht) hawiih (Chiefs).

Each experience includes a welcoming ceremony, accommodation in your chosen room type, all meals at our restaurant Kleetsu – ƛiicuu maḥtii (feast house), soft adventure activities and a klup-chus – tapčas (salmon barbecue) ceremonial dinner in the House of Huupukwanum – ḥuupukʷanum maḥtii (Treasures of the Chiefs) longhouse.

Accommodation

Two immersive accommodation experiences are available at Wahous Wilderness Lodge.

House of Kwa-kwithl – ḳ’ʷak̓ʷaƛ maḥtii (House of Sea Otters), the floating lodge, features 16 guest rooms across four room categories. Each stateroom or corner room is designed for comfort and quiet restoration, with expansive sliding glass doors that open onto a private deck overlooking the temperate rainforest and waters of Quait Bay. Corner rooms offer an additional window and a distinct vantage point across the surrounding landscape.

Set a short walk from the lodge, four private cabins offer a more secluded forest stay. Each cabin includes an open-plan lounge and dining area, a full kitchen and expansive views of the surrounding landscape.

All accommodation includes locally roasted Indigenous-owned coffee from Haida Gwaii and Silk Road tea, eco-friendly shower amenities, robes, slippers, complimentary thermal water bottles and Wi-Fi.

Tide-to-Table

Dining at Wahous Wilderness Lodge is an extension of place.

Served at Kleetsu – ƛiicuu maḥtii (feast house), meals reflect a tide-to-table philosophy shaped by season, sea and surrounding region. Daily menus highlight fresh ingredients sourced with integrity and prepared with care, offering guests a meaningful taste of ʕaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht) hahoulthee (territory).

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by the glass, featuring a curated selection from Vancouver Island and the Okanagan Valley, are included during designated meal periods. Premium bottles, specialty selections and service outside designated meal periods are available at an additional cost.

The Rhythm

of Your Stay

Each stay follows a gentle cadence of arrival, exploration, gathering and rest.

Your experience begins with check-in at Ahous Adventures in Tofino, followed by a scheduled boat transfer to Wahous Wilderness Lodge in Quait Bay. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed through a cultural arrival experience before settling in for an evening of gathering, dinner and unwinding.

From there, each day is yours to move through at your own pace. Mornings unfold slowly, perhaps with coffee or tea on your private deck overlooking the calm of Quait Bay, a quiet kayak across the water or gentle yoga at the spa. Breakfast follows when you’re ready, after which the day opens for self-guided adventure, guided excursions or quiet restoration. Lunch may be enjoyed on the floating lodge, packed for an outing or shared as a private picnic on the beach. Afternoons invite further exploration: paddling calm waters, walking forest trails, unwinding at our Oo-chims – ʔuusmč maḥtii (cleansing house) spa or simply pausing to take in the stillness of the bay. Evening brings guests back together for dinner before the lodge settles into a quiet close to the day.

Each stay includes a klup-chus – tapčas (salmon barbecue) ceremonial celebration dinner in House of Huupukwanum – ḥuupukʷanum maḥtii (Treasures of the Chiefs) longhouse, a meaningful gathering that reflects ʕaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht) hospitality and living tradition.

Departure mornings include breakfast and a return boat transfer to Tofino.
